The Operation Iraqi Freedom Commemorative Medal was designed to honor the troops involved in the liberation of the people of Iraq from the dictatorial rule of Saddam Hussein, from March 20, 2003 to the end of 2011.
The Front of the medal shows the Coat of Arms of Iraq, surrounded by a ring of green. Around the front of the medal are the words "Operation Iraqi Freedom".
The ribbon has the red, white and black of the flag of Iraq flanked on each side by the red, white and blue stripes of the US Flag.
The reverse of the medal reads "Defenders of Freedom".
